Initially known as the Texas MPN Workshop, this event was conceptualized and established in 2020 at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, by Dr Ruben Mesa and Professor Naveen Pemmaraju. In 2024, both Dr Mesa and the workshop relocated to North Carolina, and the event was aptly renamed.
Despite its relocation, the meeting's aims remain clear – to bring together leading voices in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) to discuss the latest advances, innovations, and best practices in MPN care. Through the workshop-style format, attendees are encouraged to collaborate, share ideas, and drive further progress in the field, with talks spanning basic science research to late-stage clinical trials.
VJHemOnc was pleased to attend the workshop once again, having covered the meeting as the official media partner since its conception, in part due to our long-standing relationship with event organizers, Dr Mesa and Professor Pemmaraju.
In a recent interview, they summarized the value of the workshop, emphasizing its interactive format, which has been designed “for investigators by investigators.” To watch their interview in full, click here .
At this year’s workshop, VJHemOnc interviewed 23 key opinion leaders and produced more than 75 videos on key topics including novel therapeutic strategies, symptom burden in MPNs, and the management of rare MPNs. Explore our coverage of the meeting here .
