As clinical research becomes increasingly global in scope, the need for accessible, high-quality medical education has never been greater. Yet in regions around the world, barriers such as language and access continue to limit the reach of vital medical knowledge.
At Magdalen Medical Publishing, we believe that world-class medical education should be truly global, which is why we are proud to share an important milestone: a groundbreaking partnership with TalkMED, one of China’s leading digital healthcare and education platforms. Together we are bringing the independent, expert-led education of our flagship video journals, VJHemOnc and VJOncology, directly to hematology and oncology professionals across China.
Local access to global expertise
Since their inception, VJHemOnc and VJOncology have delivered cutting-edge news, insights, and independent medical education news to healthcare professionals (HCPs) worldwide. However, for Chinese medical professionals, language barriers and platform accessibility often stood in the way.
Our collaboration with TalkMED, a leading digital healthcare and education company, is changing that. Through their platforms, TalkMED Hematology Frontier and Onco Frontier, we are delivering curated video content directly to a growing audience in Chinese and complete with subtitles. TalkMED’s Hematology Frontier alone boasts over 50,000 WeChat followers, 380,000 monthly reads, and TalkMED serves nearly 1 million registered physicians, a vibrant, engaged community eager for world-class education.
Early successes, new possibilities
The initial response we have seen has been extremely encouraging. We devised two pilot programmes utilising curated content from our congress coverage: VJHemOnc Selected Edition from EHA 2024 and VJOncology Selected Edition from ESMO 2024. In addition, we made our post-ASH 2024 highlights webinar series available on demand.
To date, the VJHemOnc Selected Edition, a collection 25 expert-led videos exploring lymphomas, leukemias and myeloma has garnered more than 95,000 views. Meanwhile the VJOncology Selected Edition, comprising 22 hot-topic videos on major solid tumors including GI, skin, lung, and breast cancers, has received more than 70,000 views. with two pilot programmes. There have also been over 25,000 views across the 7 webinars in the post-ASH 2024 highlights series.
These early results are not just numbers. They represent tens of thousands of physicians gaining access to insights that could improve their clinical practice and, ultimately, patient outcomes.
Why this matters
At its core, this partnership is about more than distributing content. It’s about expanding access to knowledge, breaking down silos to facilitate scientific exchange, and empowering physicians to deliver better care, wherever they practice.
Charlie Grieve, Publisher at Magdalen Medical Publishing highlighted “Through our collaboration, we aim to promote academic exchange and drive medical innovation, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes worldwide.”
David Zhong, Medical Head at TalkMED stated “Our goal is to bring the world’s best content to China and to share the best of China with the global community, to foster deeper communication within the oncology and hematology fields.”
The future of medical education is global, localized, and digital
As we expand our collaborations, we invite others to join us in reshaping the landscape of continuing medical education, not just for China, but for the world.
For healthcare organisations, medical societies, and educational innovators interested in reaching healthcare professionals in China and across the Asia-Pacific region, we welcome your collaboration and invite you to join us in reshaping the landscape of continuing medical education.
