Magdalen Scientific Hosts 7th Annual International Workshop on Acute Leukemias in Washington DC
16 October 2025

Last month, many of the world’s leading clinical researchers in myeloid malignancies gathered in the US Capital for the 7th Annual International Workshop on Acute Leukemias (iwAL).
Minimal residual disease (MRD), a subject of major interest in the acute leukemia field, featured prominently at the meeting, which included and included presentations and discussions with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A highlight of the workshop was the debate, Is pre-transplant intervention warranted in patients with MRD+ AML CR1?, which saw
Dr Maximilian Stahl
presenting the case ‘for’, while Dr Roland Walter argued ‘against’. This enlightening and engaging discussion reflected the depth of insight and exchange of ideas that defined the workshop.

Meeting co-chair Professor Andrew Wei said, “This meeting is unique with shorter talks and longer discussions. We’re able to highlight where the challenges and limitations are, which will enable us to move the field forward”. To watch presentations from the event, along with exclusive insights, click
